I am one of the many adorable elements. I have 3 protons, neutrons, 1 outer circle with 2 electrons and another outer cirlce with 1 electron.
My nickname is Li3
I was found in 1817 by Johan August Arfvedson in a mine in Uto, Sweden.
My family name is Alkali Metals and I weigh 6.941 amu/6.941 g.mol-1.
My atomic number is 3 . I am a solid at room temperature. I cry at 180.54 C and i get angry at 1342 C. My density is 0.534 gcm−3 and my liquid density is 0.512 gcm−3. I react with oxygen to form monoxide and peroxide. I am the only alkali metal that reacts with nitrogen at ambient temperature to produce a black nitrure.
I react easily with hydrogen at almost 500C (930F) to form lithium hydride. Metallic lithiums reaction with water is extremely vigorous. I react directly with the carbon to produce the carbure. I bind easily with halogens and form halogenures with light emission. I also reacts with acetylenic compounds, forming lithium acetylures, which are important in vitamin A synthesis. My Brother is Hydrogen.
When I grow up I can become:
Spodumene
Lepidolite
Petalite
Amblygonite
Can be used in batteries
Can be used in high-strength sight glasses
Can be used in space vehicles
Lithium Song I exist on the periodic table I belong in the alkali metal family My atomic number is 3 and I’m proud of it Now let’s get to the facts I was born in the 18th century and discovered by Johan August Arfvedson in a mine in Uto Sweden Chorus I am an element and I have 3 protons, neutrons and electrons I am situated in the in the first column Come find me in batteries and That’s all form me now we will catch up next time
